DO I NEED A BOOKKEEPER? I’VE GOT AN ACCOUNTANT?

The short answer is yes, unless your like doing your paperwork after hours. A good bookkeeper can take care of all your day to day requirements including data entry, providing timely reports, processing wages, bill payments and invoicing. A good Registered BAS agent bookkeeper can lodge your BAS, IAS, correspond with the ATO and if necessary extend due deadline dates. Although your Accountant could provide a similar service it would be at a much higher cost. The role of the Accountant is best utilized analysing the historical figures provided by the bookkeeper, complying with end of year ATO obligations, legal and financial planning along with auditing, and importantly taxation and planning advice. A good bookkeeper and a good accountant working as team complement each other, with you, the business owner benefiting in way that suits your budget and expectations.
